Unpaywall
Look for a legal free copy of a research paper
BrowserFree Chrome or Firefox extension · not every paper is available
Open Unpaywall Why this one
Before paying for an article, check whether an author or institution has already made a copy openly available. It looks for legitimate copies rather than promising to unlock every paywall.
Try this first
Install the official extension and open a publisher's article page. If a green tab appears, open the available copy and compare its title, authors and version with the paper you need.
