Quick tool picks

  • Make a small image largerUpscayl Desktop · Free desktop app · compatible GPU needed

Enlarge images on your own computer, including a whole folder. No upload or per-image credits.

Try first: Download the desktop app, choose one low-resolution image and an output folder, then run Upscayl.

Needs a Vulkan-compatible graphics card; many integrated GPUs are unsupported. It enlarges small images, but does not fix an out-of-focus photo. Use the free download: the Mac App Store version and the separate cloud service are paid.

  • Make icons you can editRecraft · Free for personal use · outputs are public

Choose vector generation when you need editable SVG shapes, not just a flat picture of an icon.

Try first: Choose a vector model and describe one simple icon. Export the SVG to adjust its shapes in your design editor.

Free outputs are owned by Recraft, public and not licensed for commercial work. A paid plan is needed for commercial rights and private generations. Do not use the free plan for confidential client artwork.

  • Erase the distraction, keep the photoCleanup.pictures · Free exports up to 720px

Brush over a cable, bin or unwanted person. You choose exactly what goes instead of regenerating the whole picture.

Try first: Upload a copy of your photo and brush over one small object. Check the repaired area before downloading.

Full-resolution downloads require Pro; the free output is limited to 720px. Reconstructed areas are invented, not recovered detail. Keep the original and check edges, faces and repeating patterns.

  • Give your product a clean backgroundPhotoroom · Free basic edits · advanced AI paid

Start with the item you actually sell. Remove its background and build a listing image around it, rather than inventing a new product.

Try first: Upload a product photo, remove the background and choose a plain backdrop. Check the product edges and the export screen.

Free exports have a monthly allowance and not all AI tools are included. Advanced generation and larger export allowances are paid. Inspect labels, small details and transparent objects before using a listing image.

  • Try a poster with words in the artworkIdeogram · Limited free generation · private mode paid

Use it for a title woven into an image—like lettering on a shop sign. Its focus includes typography, not only pictures without text.

Try first: Describe one poster and put its short headline in quotes. Check every letter in the result before using it.

Free generation is limited. Private generations require a paid plan, and AI editing uses priority credits. Text can still be wrong; generated lettering is not a set of editable text layers.

  • See an image change as you sketchKrea · 100 free compute units a day

Move a rough shape and watch the composition respond. Useful when showing what you mean feels easier than writing a longer prompt.

Try first: Open Realtime, describe a simple scene and move one shape. Compare the composition before spending units on a larger output.

Daily units are a compute allowance, not a fixed number of finished images. Model and upscale access vary by plan. The pricing page lists commercial licensing on Pro and higher; do not assume free generations cover client work.

  • Turn your content into an editable designCanva Magic Design · Magic Design needs an eligible paid or education planSchool plan

Get a layout you can adjust—text, photos and spacing—rather than a single flat AI image that is hard to correct.

Try first: If your plan includes Magic Design, give it a short brief and your own photo. Choose a layout, then replace and edit its text.

Canva has a free editor, but that does not make this AI feature free. Magic Design is listed for Pro, Nonprofits and Education accounts. Pro assets can add watermarks or charges for free users. Check asset badges and export conditions first.

    Offers & access

    Canva · Educators

    Free Canva Education for K–12

Eligible primary and secondary teachers and schools, with access for their students.

    Eligibility & limits

School eligibility applies worldwide. College and university users are excluded from this program. AI features have their own access and usage limits.

After the offer: Continued access depends on education eligibility; Canva requires periodic verification.

Start here: An eligible educator should check the official requirements. Students access it through their school or teacher.

Official source checked 13 Oct 2026. Provider approval required.

  • Cut a person out for a small profile graphicremove.bg · Free personal previews · up to 0.25 megapixels

Remove the background from an actual photo instead of asking an image generator to recreate the person. Useful when a small personal-use cutout is enough.

Try first: Upload a non-sensitive portrait, inspect the hair and edges, then download the free preview and check it at the size you need.

The free preview is low resolution and for personal use. Higher-resolution downloads and commercial use require paid credits or a subscription. Photos are uploaded; do not mistake a free preview for a full-resolution commercial export.

  • Explore different looks for a sceneLeonardo.Ai · Free 150 tokens/day · public creations

Try visual directions and compare generated variations before committing to one look for a cover, setting or creative concept.

Try first: Describe one non-sensitive scene and generate a small set of variations. Change one style choice at a time so you can see what actually helps.

Tokens are not the same as images: costs depend on settings and features. Free creations are public; private generation and some quality options need a paid plan. API access is separate. Do not upload confidential references on the assumption they stay private.

  • Replace one part of a pictureAdobe Firefly · Limited free daily generations · Adobe account

Use a focused generative edit when most of a picture already works. Change the selected area instead of starting the whole image again.

Try first: Try a small edit on a non-sensitive image you own. Select the area you want to change, describe the replacement and compare it with the original.

Free allowances and model or feature eligibility can change. Some models and premium features require a paid plan. Inspect the edited area and the rest of the picture for unintended changes; a generated result is not automatically cleared for every use.

  • Turn a small logo image into editable vectorsVectorizer.AI · Free preview only · downloading your result paid

Trace an existing PNG or JPEG into shapes you can scale and edit. Choose it when you need to preserve a design, not ask an image generator to invent another one.

Try first: Upload a logo you own and inspect curves, small text and gaps in the preview. Try an official sample download in your editor before paying for your own export.

A preview is not a free SVG download. The web subscription and metered API are separate products. Complex gradients, tiny details and lettering may need manual correction; tracing cannot recover detail that was never in the original.
